HOPE – Photo Print
Black Friday 2024
“It is so beautiful and full of hope.”
She was so right, the woman who said this in a comment when I posted the photo on social media. And I realized the photo was much more than a beautiful picture.
Because it was taken on one of the weirdest days in my life, on the very day when things changed drastically for me and everybody else in my country (Finland). And around the same time for many millions of people elsewhere the world.
It was the day when, because of the Covid-19 virus pandemic, our Government’s restriction plan was put into action, on March 18 2020. Schools were closed. People were told to stay home. Everyone who could had to work from home as much as possible. No meetings, no events. Everything changed.
Everything.
We had never in our lives experienced anything like this. And it was more or less world wide.
Hope will get us through to the other side. No one knew how long the pandemic would be a thing that affected our life. It would turn out to be more than a year, although the strongest restrictions were gone after a few months.
But hope can carry us, hope can make tough situations bearable, it points to better times. Holding on to hope is a wise thing to do.
That night when I took the photo, my daughter decided to come with me when I went out to check the aurora state.
The aurora was there but not very spectacular, so we turned our eyes to Venus which was very bright and low on the sky, creating this beautiful reflection on the ice.
As I edited my photos this one stood out. It carried a message, that was obvious. The message is universal. It’s for everyone. It’s for you.
There. Is. Hope.
