FAREWELL – Northern Lights Photo Print
April 11 2018. Was this going to be the last aurora for the season? I saw no sign of the aurora while driving to my chosen location. Just a few minutes before arriving the Northern Lights put on a great show above the treetops. I hurried because I knew how quickly they can disappear.
And that’s what they did. I parked my car at a small harbor and went straight out on the ice to get view to the north. Did I miss tonight’s show already?
I walked on the ice along the coastline, hoping for the Northern Lights to reappear. It was totally silent except when a flock of swans flew over my head in the darkness. I couldn’t see them but I heard their characteristic sounds above me. It felt strange.
It was –6° Celsius. I went back to my car, not really knowing if I should give up and go back home or keep waiting. I decided to relocate.
The Northern Lights were present but not spectacular. However, the setting was fantastic. Icy areas with snow and rocks pointing up through the ice here and there. I tried different compositions before I found a trio of rocks. The aurora reflecting in the ice made this the perfect spot for me. That night I took my best photos right there at 2:13 am.
I thought to myself: “Thank you for this season, Aurora. See you in August.”
The complete story comes with the Deluxe version so you can learn everything about it and be able to tell the story to anyone who sees it on your wall.
